Check this out -- side by side comparison of Richard Scarry's The Best Word Book Ever editions from 1963 and 1991. Be sure to read the comments -- some are hysterical! Particularly funny are the comments on the page demonstrating sex change by a simple ribbon.

By the way, Richard Scarry's Best Storybook Ever (1995) contains original versions of some of these pages. I knew I had seen the 'beautiful screaming lady' recently.
